Important Questions

Before you buy a property in Spain, you will first have to make a number of considerations.
We have listed the most important ones for you.

What region?
Each Costa in Spain has its own characteristics and lifestyle.
There are big differences in nature, culture, history, customs, sporting possibilities and building prices.

How do you want to spend your time once you have your property?
Do you like beach walks or do you prefer to go into the hinterland?
Do you want to live in peacefull environment and look up the crowd whenever you feel like it or are you a real 'city person'.
Do you like to play golf or do you prefer water sports or skiing?

How often will you use your property?
Are you looking for a home for holidays, for (semi) permanent residence or do you see it as an investment for rental, for example?

What kind of property are you looking for?
Do you prefer an apartment, a semi-detached house or a detached villa.
Each type has its advantages, such as privacy or communal swimming pools.

What requirements must the property have?
You can think of the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the size of the living room and the size of the plot. In short, what is important to you.

Are you looking for a new build or an existing property?
With a new home to be built, you can often adapt the home to your wishes and payment is made in installments during construction.
With turnkey new and existing buildings you see what you are buying and you can often move into the house quickly.

Since the building qualities have improved considerably in recent years, for example in the field of insulation, we recommend that you do not choose a house older than 10 years for existing buildings.
With new construction, you have the advantage that you receive a 10-year construction guarantee. This is a legal requirement in Spain.
This is of course also the case when you opt for a newly built turnkey home.
Especially in this last segment, there are currently major price advantages to be gained, as many builders are eager to sell their “stock” of turnkey homes!

In which price range are you looking for?
Of course the price of a house has to do with the size of the house (and possibly with the size of the plot) and its location, such as views and privacy.
However, the price also has to do with the region you choose.
There is a considerable price difference between the various Costas.

Financing?
Do you want to take out a mortgage, and if so, do you want to take out a mortgage in Spain (with the home in Spain as collateral) or do you take out an (extra) mortgage on your home in Belgium.
We would like to inform you about the possibilities.
